Celebrating 30 years on the road… and still going!

I left France in 1980 with so much luggage that I could hardly move. Today, I carry much less and I am not bothered with the 20 kg limit that most airlines have nowadays. I got rid of everything that I no longer needed. My belongings fit in 2 travel bags. I can pack and move out at any time in less than 10 minutes.

I never came back for real. I did return to France, but as a visitor, for a few short periods of time and I always felt as a foreigner there too. When people ask me where I am from, my only answer always is: “This is the land where I was born. This is the land where I live. Home is where I am.”

I see myself as a rebel. I never felt the need to settle in one fixed place forever. In fact, I never could. Every 5 years, I felt the intense need to move, to change life, to start something new, somewhere else. And so I did and keep doing. For me, life without travelling is not life.

I just can’t believe it has been 30 years!
